Former Miss LA India, Reshma Dordi began her career while
attending college with the launch of
Palken Radio,
featuring South Asian music and entertainment.
This program continues to dominate
airwaves in Southern California. After graduating in 1993
with a degree in Communications with an emphasis in
Broadcast Journalism, she joined CNN’s
Showbiz Today,
where she learned the ropes of producing and directing a
television show. Pearl Entertainment Inc., was established
in the same year under her supervision.
Thereafter, she
worked with the Disney channel as a producer/writer during
their launch in Asia.
Since then, Pearl Entertainment
Inc., has hosted events such as movie premiers, beauty
pageants, and charitable events such as “Great Stars for a
Great Cause.”
This upscale cruise was attended by
Bollywood Superstars, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel
Shetty and other prominent personalities, raising funds for
the children of the victims of the September 11th
tragedy.
Reshma was the first
NRI to host the prestigious Femina Miss India Beauty Pageant
in 1995, which was telecast live for the first time in its
history to a viewership of over 30 million.
This was the historical year
Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai were felicitated. She
returned to host the following year where she interviewed
international supermodel Cindy Crawford.
In 1998, she
launched
Showbiz India Television, a
magazine entertainment show on Bollywood.
In less than a decade,
Showbiz India
Television has become a leader in South
Asian Entertainment, airing nationwide and now globally with
the launch of
Showbiz India Extreme,
a successful offshoot with original
content.
Pearl Entertainment continues to
expand its production division with production of high-end
commercials for nationwide corporate clients.
Reshma has
appeared on numerous television and radio shows including
NBC’s
Today Show,
Inside
Edition,
Sony
Entertainment Television,
Doordarshan,
and
KNX News Radio.
